I downsized from an 8mm to a 6mm internal diameter for a snugger fit, and it stays put even when I’m sleeping. The 18g gauge is light enough not to irritate my healing piercing but still feels durable.
I chose the 8mm internal diameter and 16g gauge, and the hoop fits my cartilage perfectly without pinching. The thickness feels substantial enough that I don't worry about it catching on things, yet it's still lightweight to wear all day.
The 16g in 10mm feels sturdy without being too heavy, and the internal diameter is just right for my helix. Only wish the finish were a touch more polished, but it’s held up well through daily wear so far.
